Ratings Agencies: The Forgotten Constituency of Financial Crisis Interventions
A new policy note with Ayo George
Ayo George (a star former RA and current MPP candidate at UChicago’s Harris School) and I have a new policy note out today on how financial crisis fighters can and should keep the ratings agencies in mind as a first-order constituent of crisis-time policies.
Using historical examples, we highlight some common policy design pitfalls that lead to negative ratings agency reception of crisis responses—and often force crisis-fighters back to the drawing board.
